Timber Rattler
Nature poem
I got a few minutes to write outdoors before the rain started. I took a long loop hike and found coyote, squirrel, mouse and bird tracks in slushy snow.
The tracks I made hiking up the mountain this morning were gone by the time I hiked down in the afternoon – a mere 6 hours later. The snow hadn’t melted; the tracks melted back into the soft snow. It was overcast the entire day, so it wasn’t the sun – just sultry spring air on what will soon be a wet Christmas.
