Warm Weather Inspires Thoughts of Trout Lilies

Category: Climate Change, Flowers, Foraging, Internet, Political, Wild Food Recipes – Admin – 12:51 pm

It’s another warm day and runoff from the mountain forms little streams. Moist woodlands make me think of one of my favorite wild edibles, Trout Lilies. I have a lot to do to organize and post the information I want on this site. I’m still learning the basics of HTML and every time I add a project, I add a load of work. But I’m already compiling a list of my favorite wild foods and I’m going to find my photos - and list my favorite recipes.

Wouldn’t it be great if people suddenly realized that instead of poisoning their yards, they could harvest them?

Really, I’ll be posting my recipes for cattail shoots (the cattail is “nature’s supermarket,” hence the reason for my logo), dandelion fritters, and later in the fall, stewed acorns.

I’m the only one I know who uses acorns whole. Every recipe I’ve found is for acorn flour.

I have to get back to work, but just thinking about the first wild spring greens is enough to put a smile on my face.
