I got in a quickie to the lake in a break in the rain. The air was warm this afternoon.
In the last eight hours the air temperature has plummeted 25 degrees and the winds are howling at 15-20 miles per hour, with gusts in excess of 45 mph.
I’m sure a layer of ice lies under the snow that has been falling.
It was mid December the last time the weather was so brutally cold.Nature is fickle. There may be 3-5 inches of snow on the ground by morning.
The winds will determine whether I venture out. I hate to lose hiking time, but high winds and icy terrain make certain hikes impossible
The weather forecast predicts a cold, windy day tomorrow. But by mid week, it will warm up again.
I wonder if the Tulip Trees buds will survive this storm?
