I do not compromise on my hiking wardrobe. I’ll buy mid-layer shorts, shirts and go-to-town clothes at the thrift shop, but I hike thousands of miles, so the correct weight layers and secure footwear is paramount.
After whining through several blogs about my leaky hiking boots, I checked out my reliable Sierra Trading Post to see what was available in my size, and yes - the Universe provided - my size and on sale.
The real story came a week or so later. The boots were perfect - the trekking poles mismatched. No problem, Sierra Trading Post provides a return label and form with every shipment. I phoned to ask a question and in the process of talking with the customer service representative, I shared the tale of my leaky hiking boots.
STP: Return them.
JJ: They’re 3-years-old and beat up. The receipt is in a box in the back of the closet.
STP: No problem. We’ll email you a copy of the invoice and a shipping label.
JJ: You mean you’ll take back 3-year-old boots that have been glued together?
STP: Just mark the return form ‘defective.’
Add warmth and humor and a bunch more words and that’s just what happened.
I still have to get new snowshoes and replace some shredded inner layers. I know exactly where I’ll be shopping and purchasing.
Sierra Trading Post ROCKS!
