Early Morning Hike: Nature Photos

Category: Birds, Hiking, Mammals – jj_murphy – 11:16 am

This was the first early morning hike I’ve had in a while.

I stopped to admire the view and turned to spot a fox watching me. I was too slow to photograph the fox, but I did get a few other glimpses of wildlife.

This is the first time I’ve seen a beaver:

I was quick enough to get a glimpse of this wood duck.

I could not believe the size of the coyote scat I found. That’s one of the pens I carry.

How do I know it’s a coyote? Look at the next photo for a close up of the fur in the scat. Domestic dogs do not typically eat wild animals, I have never seen feral dogs in this location, and wolves have not found their way to southern New York State.

I’m always amused to find the animals watching me watch them. This deer was further away from me than the fox, so I had time for a photo.

It doesn’t get any better than this.
